[Review] Step Up: High Water [Full Series]

“Step Up: High Water” is a 10-episode, hour-long YouTube Red drama series that premiered January 31. It follows the story of ten characters who all have some relation to the performing arts academy known as High Water based in Atlanta, Georgia and founded by the legendary Sage Odom. The series was created by Holly Sorenstein (Make It or Break It) and executive produced by Adam Shankman (A Walk to Remember, Hairspray), Jenna Dewan Tatum (Step Up, Take the Lead), Channing Tatum (Step Up, 21 Jump Street), Jennifer Gibgot (The Pacifier, She’s All That), and Sorenstein. It stars Lauryn McClain (Daddy’s Little Girls, BearCity 3), Petrice Jones (Play the Devil, iBoy), Jade Chynoweth (Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, 300: Rise of an Empire), Carlito Olivero (East Los High, Making Moves), Eric Graise (The Walking Dead), Kendra Oyesanya, Terrence Green (Being Mary Jane), Marcus Mitchell (High Strung, Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming), Ne-Yo (Battle Los Angeles, Red Tails), and Faizon Love (Friday, Elf). Its recurring guest stars include Naya Rivera (Glee, The Royal Family) and R. Marcos Taylor (Straight Outta Compton, Baby Driver). This is a drama series with a focus on dance that features a variety of real-world topics that impact working class and poor people of color.
